Romantic Songs For Valentine's Day
76
I remember the song which was playing when I had my first kiss, the song that was in the background during a heartbreaking argument and the song my partner played to cheer me up afterwards. Now whenever I hear those songs, I get transported to that time and place. That's why I love music so much - that emotional connection it can have to sections in your life.
Valentine's Day is fast approaching; the day where you need to show your partner how much you love and care for them. Sometimes it is hard to get those feelings into words, but music can let you do that. Here is a list of my favourite romantic songs - perfect for playing to your loved one this Valentine's Day.
Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
This is a power ballad which featured on the soundtrack of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Probably known as one of the most romantic songs of all time, and seen as a classic by so many music lovers. When released, the song broke sales records in both the UK and USA, and reached number one all across Europe - those millions of people can't be wrong.
Lonestar - Amazed.
I don't care whether you hate country, or love country - this song is beautiful on so many levels. It is impossible to not adore this song. According to a survey done in the UK in 2009, this song is the most popular song choice for newly weds first dance at their wedding reception.
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight.
Probably one of the most well known songs of all time. Clapton sings this song with such truth and honesty. He apparently wrote this song about Pattie Boyd, whilst waiting for her to get ready for a party. After their split she said; 'Wonderful Tonight' was the most poignant reminder of all that was good in our relationship, and when things went wrong it was torture to hear it'.
Enrique Iglesias - Hero
This song is about the I'd-do-anything-for-you-type-love that every girl dreams about. A song perfect for a guy to play to a girl he wants to prove his love and dedication too. This song made me fall in love with Enrique when I was at school, and the music video can still make me cry.
Shania Twain - You're Still The One
A perfect song for the couple who have been through it all together. A song that says 'i still love you', and 'i'd still pick you'.
Elton John - Your Song
What a compliment - having a song written about you... And this song is beautiful and obviously comes straight from the heart. I really like Ellie Goulding's version, but seriously - nothing can beat the original.
Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You
This song was made famous by Whitney Huston, but was written and originally sung by The Queen of Country, Dolly Parton. I love Dolly's version - her country vocals seem so much more heartfelt and honest than Whitneys' warbling. The longing and sadness in Dolly's voice gives me goosebumps.
Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat - Lucky
I want this song played at my wedding. It is such a gorgeous, uplifting, magical song. I love the way Jason and Colbie sing to each other and their voices just match. I think everybody needs somebody to dedicate this song too.
Christina Aguilera - Loving Me 4 Me
Christina's album 'Stripped' - in my opinion - is her best album. She is so honest all the way through and it really is though she is stripped of all the fakery to show the world the true her. Loving Me 4 Me is an album track all about being able to be yourself with your loved one. This song is so soulful and sensuous; it's all about how intoxicating love can be.
'' Your lips, your love, your smile, your kiss
I must admit it's a part of me
You please me, complete me, believe me
Like a melody
Your soul, your flow, your youth, your truth is simply proof
We were meant to be
But the best quality that's hookin' me
Is that you're loving me for me ''
Savage Garden - Truly, Madly Deeply.
Do you love your other half truly, madly, deeply? If so, this is the perfect song for your Valentines Day. It is just a simple, classic love song.
Creed - My Sacrifice
A heavier, rockier sound, but the feeling is still there. We used to call this 'our song' when me and my boyfriend first got together and listening to it now brings back so many memories. I know that it won't be everybody's cup of tea - but listen to it - you won't be disapointed!
Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah
This song is perfect for hopeful young love. Tom Higgenson, the band's lead singer wrote this song in 2004 about Columbia University student and runner, Delilah DiCrescenzo. He fell for her and told her 'I have a song about you already', even though he hadn't. She wasn't interested, but when he wrote 'Hey There Delilah', he sent the CD to her. In interviews she said she was impressed, but you know... not that impressed, claiming she just wondered how she could ditch him. Fast forward a few years and 'Hey There Delilah' is released as a single a reaches number 1. The song didn't give him much success with Delilah, but has brought him a whole different kind of success. I'm sure there are plenty of girls who would be happy to take her place!
Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
Bruno Mars is set for big things. I've loved what he has done so far, especially this tune. Love songs seem to come so natural to him and his piano.
Ron Pope - A Drop In The Ocean
If you haven't heard of Ron Pope, you need to seriously check him out.He is a singer-songwriter I found on myspace a few years ago and he has been one of my favourite artists ever since. I love simple acoustic music - voice with a guitar or piano, and he does it like no other. I'm not sure whether he is even signed, but I know he will be soon!
A Drop In The Ocean is romantic and touching - I know it will make you like him like I do. If you are only going to listen to one song on this hub, make sure this is it.
Dixie Chicks - Cowboy, Take Me Away
The perfect Valentine's Day song for any cowgirl. 'cowboy take me away, fly this girl as high as you can, into the wild blue'.
Keith Whitley/Allison Krauss - When You Say Nothing At All
There have been so many versions of this songs, and whilst I have nothing against dear old Ronan, I think this is the best. Whitley released the original version of this song in 1988 and experienced great success with it, and Allison Krauss released her version in 1995. Whilst Krauss' version was in the charts, a duet was concoted of the two versions. I believe this duet has never been available comercially, but I think it is a gorgeous version as the song works so well when sung by two people.
Boys II Men - I'll Make Love To You
A perfect slow dance song. Can't beat 90's RnB for that!
Blink 182 - I'm Lost Without You
This is another song that means so much to me. When I heard it for the first time, it seemed so true to me and it still does now. I love how Blink went all serious! Their song 'Always', which is also off their self-titled album is just as good too.
Happy listenin' (and lovin!)

Hi fayehelen, I like it. A good Hub with some good songs in here. I remember that Bryan Adams song at the time. It seemed that every time you turned on the radio or TV it was being played. I think it was number 1 for a few months although at the time it felt like years!
Cheers. Michael.
